Dr. Alan Darlington’s seminar at IIDEX Canada 2016

Don’t miss Dr. Darlington’s last seminar of 2016!

Following his invitation to 2016 Cities Alive (where he participated in an expert panel and received Nedlaw’s Interior Green Wall Award) and his seminar last week at Buildex Calgary, our founder Dr. Alan Darlington is headed to IIDEX soon!sassafraz_26790

In his seminar “How Green are Green Walls”, Dr. Darlington will discuss how the functionality of Nedlaw biofilters surpasses the purely aesthetic role of other ‘green’ walls. His seminar will reveal how biofilters solve indoor air quality, thereby improving occupant well-being and building performance.

Register today!

You’ll learn about the amazing benefits of a Nedlaw living wall biofilter – how it removes indoor air contaminants, the system’s ability to generate virtual outside air for a fraction of the cost of traditional air handling systems, plus an overview of the operating costs and the energy savings, based on recent research.

See you at IIDEX Canada, Booth 4628!

Nedlaw at Cities Alive Conference in Nashville

Water the Key to Everything Green
Water is fundamental to life and to green infrastructure. At the 12th CitiesAlive® Green Roof and Wall Conference in Nashville, delegates will explore the many ways in which green roofs and walls can help manage our water resources more wisely. Participants will dig into the science of performance, explore the many interrelationships between energy and water, and investigate the most forward thinking designs and policies that fuel essential innovation in green building and infrastructure.

Presentations by Alan Darlington:

  1.        Water Usage in Circulating Irrigation Systems

Water is too valuable a resource to flush down the drain. How exactly do green roofs manage and control water? And how do they fail to do so?

  1.        VOC Removal by Living Wall Biofilters

Biofilters remove a wide range of air pollutants and significantly improve indoor air quality

Webinar: Reducing Energy Demand Through Living Architecture

Nov 5, 2014  1:00-2:00PM Eastern Standard Time

NEW! A Green Wall Case Study. Discover how building-integrated vegetation can provide multiple synergistic services for green buildings and reduce the demand for non-sustainable energy inputs. Learn to identify opportunities to optimize energy performance by utilizing interior and exterior vegetation. A detailed case study of the Guelph Humber biowall will illustrate the concepts being studied.

Register for Our Free Online Seminar on the Biofiltration of Indoor Air

You are invited to a free online seminar, hosted by Nedlaw Living Walls founder, Dr. Alan Darlington. The seminar entitled, “The Biofiltration of Indoor Air: Putting nature to work indoors”, will be of special benefit to architects, developers, building managers, and anyone looking for ways to improve the indoor living environment.

The Biofiltration of Indoor Air: Putting nature to work indoors

Did you know that a Living Wall Biofilter is more than just pretty plants on a wall?

This interior plantscape is actually an innovative technology that effectively removes common indoor pollutants and improves the living environment.

Is it little wonder that this indoor environment and in particular indoor air quality (IAQ), has a large impact on our well-being?

We spend 80 to 90% of our time indoors. The buildings we inhabit are frequently designed to be ‘air tight’. While sealing the building may keep heating and cooling costs down, it also traps all the pollutants that arise in the spaces which can affect our health.  We are constantly choosing between the well-being of the occupants and the energy performance of the building.

An Indoor Air Biofilter (Living Wall) helps solve this dilemma. It represents the hybridization of science and art to deal with the real problems in an aesthetic and sustainable manner.

In this free online seminar you will learn:

  • The principles of indoor air biofiltration.
  • The impact of biofilters on IAQ
  • The basic components of an Indoor Air Biofilter.
  • How to conceptually design the Indoor Air Biofilter into a living space

Nedlaw Living Walls
Dr. Alan Darlington Head ShotAlan Darlington was awarded his PhD investigating the interaction between plants and their physical environment from the University of Guelph. The application of plant based biofilters to the indoor space has been his area of interest and expertise for 20 years.

Since 2004, his companies have installed over 150 biofilters across North America. Alan has received a number of awards for academic and entrepreneurial accomplishments and is the ‘inventor’ of a number of patents.

In 2005, he was named by Outdoor Magazine as one of the 25 top true believers in the environmental movement for his work with plant biofilters. In 2012 he was one of the luminaries featured in the book, The Rise of Living Architecture Commemorative Edition, for his contribution to the development of the living wall industry over the past decade.
